The Talisay Campus held the Groundbreaking Ceremony for its Three-storey Engineering and Technology Green Building on July 23.
The three-storey building, bound to become another landmark and icon of development in CHMSC and in Talisay City, is an epitome of Green Concepts in Architecture.
In pursuit of the College’s Mission to become a model Green Institution, the building is designed to incorporate environment-friendly and sustainable technology and engineering innovations necessary to mitigate climate change and global warming.
The ground floor will house the Food Trades and Hotel and Restaurant Management Laboratory and Cafeteria, the second floor, e-classrooms equipped with multimedia capabilities for Engineering and Technology courses, and the third floor, a conference hall which can accommodate 300 to 500 people. A mini hotel will also be constructed atop the third floor.
Another Green Building located at the Alijis Campus has already commenced construction in the summer as a forerunner in further plans for sustainable infrastructure projects.
The Green Buildings are part of the College’s strategic direction dubbed “Green CHMSC Movement” to transition to sustainable development not just in infrastructure, but also in organizational culture, food consumption and nutrition, research and community extension, and even the curriculum which promotes environmental education.
